Paper Description
The paper will introduce students to the key concepts of drama and contribute to the development of specialist skills and dispositions required when working with drama as pedagogy or artform.
This 200 level paper engages students practically with a range of drama forms for educational and community settings. Participants will engage with the elements, technologies, conventions, and technologies of drama. This paper will foreground the dispositions required for teaching and working in the arts with a specific focus on facilitating quality drama.
For future teachers, this paper broadens drama skills and provides a foundation for teachers keen to embrace Arts leadership roles within schools.
It provides students with the theoretical and practical groundwork foundational to future postgraduate arts education study.
Paper Structure
Students will engage with additional readings and online components in addition to the 8 -day intensive block course during summer school.
Drama workshops will be held on the Tauranga Campus

Students who successfully complete the paper should be able to:

Peer and self assessment of in-class process drama exploration 30%
One synchronous online reflective conversation with Lecturer (one-to-one live chat) 20%
Two forum discussions through Persual on prescribed readings 20%
Devising and managing a drama performance or Process Drama work 30%
Assessment Components
The internal assessment/exam ratio (as stated in the University Calendar) is 100:0. There is no final exam.
